The Arrhenius Theory:
Acids are substances that produce hydrogen ions (H+) in solutions.
Bases are substances that produce hydroxide ions (OH-) in solutions.
*Neutralisation occurs because hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions react to produce water.
Equation for Arrhenius Theory:
H+ (aq) + OH- (aq) --> H2O (l)
*aq= aqueous
*l= liquid
